Refreshing & Healthy Summer Drinks to Beat the Heat

What do you do when the scorching heat begins to nag you? Is gulping down harmful colas right way to quench your thirst?

This summer make sure to cool yourself with healthy summer drinks that are full of nutrition. Check out a few of them.

Aam Pana:

Though this healthy delight is available in most of the restaurants, but it can be easily prepared at home. This refreshing drink is made up of fresh raw mangoes which contain a high amount of Vitamin C that enhance body immunity. It also prevents heat stroke and regulate the salt content of our body that tends to get loose due to excessive sweating. It  is anti-inflammatory and protects the stomach lining against acids.

How to Prepare?

  • Take 2-3 fresh raw mangoes, boil them and let them cool.
  • Next, peel the mangoes and mash them thoroughly. Take the pulp out of them.
  • Now, add cumin, a pinch of salt, a pinch of black pepper, a teaspoonful of sugar to the pulp and stir well. Pour a glass full of cold water to this pulp. Now, add ice-cubes to this and serve.

Spiced Lemonade:

Being immensely rich in Vitamin C, lemons are considered to be excellent for boosting body immunity. The other ingredients of this summer drink are good antioxidants. 

How to Prepare?

  • Squeeze all the lemons thoroughly to extract juice from them.
  • Strain the juice and remove seeds.
  • Mix sugar/honey and stir well.
  • Mix a pinch of jaljira powder, black pepper powder and a pinch of salt.
  • Serve when chill. Garnish it with lemon slices.

 Mango Lassi:

It is a perfect cooler and one of the most wanted summer drinks. Mango is rich in iron and calcium and yoghurt maintain alkalinity of the body. The drink helps in weight loss, regulates diabetes and keep cholesterol under control.

How to Prepare?

  • Put at least 3 glasses of fresh yoghurt, mango, ice and sugar in a blender and blend it thoroughly till it is absolutely smooth.
  • Pour the mixture into glasses and serve when cool.
  • Top it with a dollop of cream and garnish with almonds and raisins.

Refreshing Rose Drink:

The drink is truly refreshing and full of antioxidants. It helps in cleansing and detoxifying your bodies apart from keeping it cool.

How to Prepare?

  • Crush the rose petals coarsely in a mortar and crush into a deep glass bowl. Pour one cup of boiling water and add cardamom powder. Mix it well, cover the lid and allow it to steep for the entire night.
  • Now, strain it through a fine sieve.
  • Put sugar/honey and stir well.
  • Now add pomegranate and lemon juice. Stir and mix well. This is concentrated syrup which can be stored in refrigerator for a couple of days.
  • Pour a tablespoonful of this syrup in a chilled glass of water and serve
