Why Antioxidants Are So Important to Your Health?

Antioxidants prevent cells from damage. Once the cells begin to damage due to  degenerative conditions like aging you are likely to suffer a number of diseases. Antioxidants protect your body cells and provide them with the material they need to fight the harmful oxidation process.

Spices:

Bland food lovers will be disheartened, but this is true. Spices are considered to be the richest antioxidant sources. Although red pepper, cinnamon, turmeric, sage, rosemary, etc. have high antioxidant content but cloves top the list.

Chocolate:

It is another antioxidant super-food. But, make sure to munch only dark chocolate that contains pure unsweetened cocoa powder and baking chocolate as it is an extremely rich source of antioxidants. Avoid having fat and sugar laden milk chocolates.

Coffee:

Coffee is one of the greatest sources of antioxidants. But, the antioxidant content varies with type of beans used and the overall brewing time.

Berries:

All berries without exception are rich in antioxidants but the tropical Acai berry tops the list. So, you have a reason good enough to consume raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, cranberries and strawberries.

Nuts:

Nuts are loaded with antioxidants. Along with providing you with the right amount of proteins, fibers and healthy fats, they provide you antioxidants in a higher amount. Walnuts, peanuts, almonds, etc. should hence be incorporated into your daily diet.

Dried Fruits:

All the dried fruits are very good source of antioxidants because the water content of these fruits is removed. So, dried grapes, dried apples, peaches and apricots provide you an immense amount of antioxidants.

Beans:

Both black beans and the kidney beans are the richest sources of antioxidants. Lentils, soybeans are excellent sources of antioxidants. Like nuts, beans provide proteins and fibers in the right amount and aid in weight loss.

Brightly Colored Fruits and Veggies:

Always remember that all the deeply pigmented fruits and veggies are the richest sources of antioxidants. The protective bioflavonoids (powerful antioxidant) are what make them look bright. Brightly colored, apples, guavas, plums, cherries, etc. are the richest source of antioxidants.
